I picked up a Lookout House $1 chip recently on Ebay. I wouldn't have bid because I already had one, but I noticed the hot stamp of the dollar sign was different than the one I had. The one I have pictured on the left side of the photo has the top of the $ curving down close to the middle of the "S" . The one on the right hand side is more open at the top. Each is exactly the same on both sides. The chip on the left has a pebbly texture and the one one the right is a normal looking chip. I don't consider that as much of a difference compared to the dollar sign. Would this variation be the rasult of a remade hot stamp die? How are The hot stamps applied?
