a matter of right or wrong. Is your policy wrong? Not for you it isn't. I just have a differing opinion. My auctions state that I will hold checks for ten days before shipping. Good policy? I think so. Do I really hold the item that long before shipping? Depends on who the person is or their feedback record. Have I been burnt? Not yet. Smart on my part? So far, more lucky than smart.
The example that you presented does not seem very realistic to me. I believe that if the wrong item had been sent or the person was dissatisfied, they would contact you first to try to reach some resolution and not just leave a negative feedback. For me, that would signal a finality to the deal and would really just lessen my desire to make it right...I mean, the damage has already been done.
Other considerations in this discussion are volume (you're feedback rating is about ten times mine) but I think even more importantly is -- do you buy or sell? Buyers only get negs if they don't pay or checks bounce or don't respond. Sellers have a much greater exposure to negs because of a myriad of reasons -- bad packaging, slow shipping, doesn't match the description, too much $$ for shipping, and so on and so on.
Too much thinking for me. But I don't think your feedback policies are wrong - I just don't agree with them. Steve B
