With anything I buy, I always look at the total cost. Doesn't matter if I buy something from eBay, BestBuy.com, Dell.com, etc. I always factor in the cost of shipping along with the going price to see if I want the item or not.
I don't see what the big deal is with your shipping charge anyway. $1.80 is about the norm for eBay.
