I re-examined the chips and you're absolutely right about the position of the inlay....The "california" at the bottom is simply in a different position. Examing several I have, I've found them ALL to be different from each other in that way.

However, The one really dark chip is the same color that Valley View uses and doesn't appear like the others at all.

Next time I am at Pala, I will get another of these and do as you suggested, breaking it in half.
