Here's the updated story on these chips:

Chief Charleys or Charlies is a smoke shop on the Shoalwater Indian Reservation, Washington.

Prior to the passing of the Indian Gaming Act, they had varying forms of gaming. The Indian Tribal Representative that I talked to was NOT overly informative, yet over a period of time he would give or relent some additional information. This was conducted over the phone. When asked if this was an Illegal game his reply:

"that it was not Illegal for them to have games by their laws".

The first order$1.00 "ChiefCharlies " approx. 600

Then " Chief Charleys" approx. 1400

Followed by 200 " Chief Charleys" in 25¢
and 200 $5.00

Chief Charlies had Poker, Blackjack and a few slot machines in the back room of
the Smoke Shop. After the passing of the Indian Gaming Act they continued for a
while until the pressure became to great. Around mid 1988.

Shoalwater Casino on the other hand once they opened, had Illegal coin pay slot machines, blackjack and for a couple of weeks roulette.
They have been raided three times that I know of and were shut down for a couple of months. But are still operating with out a compact with the state of Washington.
