MGM have also been linked with Coventry City Football Club (who were knocked out of the FA Cup last night by Colchester, my team - ha ha) to redevelop their ground, incorporating a casino complex.
Unfortunatley this development is based on the reform of the UK gaming laws which have been promised for several years now and not happened! I also foresee a problem with these proposed large developments - while we are used to having thousands of betting shops (sports betting, mainly horses) and many horse racing tracks, the lack of casinos in the UK means that most people have never been inside one and most people that I know would never envisage going into one even if they could. The concept that suddenly huge casinos are going to be overwhelmed with gamblers when there was nothing there before seems dangerous to me, and I can see these places closing or reducing in size very quickly. I hope they don't (looking forward to all those new English chips), but I guess only time will tell.
