I still don't understand why this makes the RED chips HARDER to get. If the chip counts are closely guarded by the tournament director when chips are raced off, then I would suspect they would keep track of ALL denominations. Eventually the green is raced off and those would be counted... And finally at the end of the tournament, I'm sure the higher denominations are all accounted for as well. In this case, I would suspect all chips in those tournaments would be trouble for you to acquired.
This does bring up an interesting story...
Last week I went to Tunica to play in a couple of the WPO events. Event #4 ($500 Buy-in No-Limit) tournament was capped at 950 players! Most of the tournament tables are at the Gold Strike but some players actually started the tournament at tables in the HorseShoe next door. In this tournament, my initial table was at the Horseshoe. Eventually, we were told to pick up our chips and proceed to the Gold Strike and assume our same seats at a table in the main tournament room. We were given strict instructions not to put the chips in our pockets and to carry them out in the open. We were all mumbling about the procedure and how they were moving players over. We were all quite surprised they didn't at least baggy each players chips and have us carry them over in a zip-lock or something.
