Bob-
Come on now Bob, while some people may believe that we invaded Iraq to free the Iraqi people from Sadam's murderous reign, I find it hard to believe that you buy into that. The truth is that when Sadam was doing the most horific things of his reign, we were supporting him. When he gassed the Kurds, the U.S. considered him an ally. So it's pretty obvious that we really don't give a darn about the suffering ofthe Iraqi people. More importantly, when George W Bush was explaining the need to invade Iraq to the American people and to the world, he didn't even claim that we were doing it to end the suffering of the Iraqi people. He said, very clearly, that we were going in because we knew for a fact that Sadam was mnufacturing weapons of mass destruction, and that he posed an iminent threat to America. Now that the world and the American people realize that that was a complete lie, the administration is trying to re-write history and say that we invaded Iraq to end the suffering of the Iraqi people. Sure, it sounds good, but it's just not true.
