I, along with others based upon what I see on this board, am fed up with eBay. They ignore our repeated requests to create a new category to get rid of the non-collectible poker chip sets that absolutely clutter their chip site. I, and others, have tried to get them to remove patently false listings that threaten our hobby. And, to top it off, they recently increased their auction costs to sellers.
Dealing with eBay reminds me of the Lily Tomlin routine on Saturday Night Live, "we're the phone company, we don't care, we don't have to." It has become the poster child for a classic monopoly, high prices, low quality, bad service.
So, for the next month, I will not list on eBay nor will I search for chips on eBay. Instead I'm going to with the hope that other true collectors will follow. I know, from conversations with others who buy and sell online, that has not been the best place to list chips for sale. It can be if collectors support it and leave the poker chip sets and the fantasy chip crooks to use eBay. And, please, if you're looking to buy chips make it a habit to check Jackpot instead of eBay.
Join me on Jackpot--here's my first set of listings of some Washington, Oregon and Montana chips. Next week I'll do some brass cores, coin centers, etc.
