Recently I came across a $1.00 bill that had a star after the serial number. I recalled from somewhere that bill collectors like these. I put it up on ebay hoping to make a quick $5.00 off my $1.00. I was stunned at the final auction price.

I asked the guy who bought it why he would pay so much. He was from France, and spoke limited English. What I could get from his e-mail was that 2001 was a limited run of $1.00 bills? Still doesn't seem like a $77.00 reason!

I started to do some research and came across so of the items that bill collectors like. You mentioned the "Radar" bills, but I also saw a "Ladder" serial number such as 123456789. Low number bills and the star bills. Interesting stuff.

I had to stop looking for fear of picking up a new hobbie!
