This chip was described by the eBay seller as follows:
IN THE LIFE MAGAZINE BOOK "MOBSTERS AND GANGSTERS" PUBLISHED BY TIME INC. COPYRIGHT 2002, VOLUME 2,NO.7, OCTOBER 28, 2002. ON PAGE #69IT DESCRIBES A SHYSTER LAWYER NAMED EDDIE O'HARA (LATER GUNNED DOWN IN HIS CAR ON OGDEN AVE IN CHICAGO), IN CHICAGO WHO, WITH AL CAPONE'S HELP, MADE A LOT OF DOUGH ON A DOG TRACK THEY TURNED INTO SPORTSMANS'S PARK HORSE RACING TRACK. THIS TRACK WAS LOCATED IN CAPONES OLD STRONGHOLD OF CICERO, ILLINOIS. THEY ALSO RAN A ILLEGAL CASINO CALLED "THE GREYHOUND CLUB" BY THE DOG TRACK. THIS CHIP WAS ACTUALLY USED THERE.
The clipping he sent from the LIFE article, however, doesn't mention Greyhound Club by name.
I notice there is a similar chip in Ed Hertel's book attributed to Greyhound Club in Jeffersonville, IN (near Louisville, KY, I believe). The chip Ed shows doesn't have a denomination, but has the same design and mold.
My WWW research showed that Capone did have interest in dog racing in the Chicago area, but I don't find any mention of a club called Greyhound in the area.
Anyone have any further info on these Greyhound chips and know whether they were really from a Capone controlled club in the Chicago area? Seller says he has chips like this in other denominations as well.
