I've been waiting to show this for some time. Several years back I was quite excited to have found at a flea market what I thought was a rare Bally's Atlantic City Park Place error of their first issue $1 chip. Dollar signs danced in my head as I continually placed higher values on it. Soon I realized it was no error afterall, just a damaged chip!
The chip normally has a white inlay, but the one I found in the glass case at the outdoor flea market was tan! To make a long story short, it seems that constant exposure to the sunlight caused the tanning of the inlay. The center chip is the one I found at the flea market. The right-hand one, I "manufactured" the error by leaving a normal white chip on my window sill for several years; look at the result.
(That 100 chip (pictured below) is coming up for auction in 15 hours. it is a scarce Balinese Room, Galveston, Texas, illegal chip. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3258939478&category=899&rd=1 )
