Actually, it's a great conversation starter, so I don't mind sharing .
"orbis non sufficit" is Latin for "The World is Not Enough". I use it for a variety of pithy purposes, but the short answer is that it's the inscription on the James Bond family crest. To wit:
"I could have given you the world" (Elektra King, played by Sophie Marceau)
"The world is not enough" (James Bond, played by Pierce Brosnan)
"Foolish sentiment!"
"Family motto..."
To be fair, I have been using it in the signature line of my e-mails since 1995, althought the movie of the same name didn't come out until 1999. However, the ultimate source is the same.
BTW, did I mention that I like to quote James Bond movies? Well, all movies really, but James Bond especially. Call it one of my many quirks .
Actually, Bond was responsible for my first interest in chip collecting: during my first trip to Vegas in 1994, I stumbled across Paulson Gaming supplies (back when they would sell there wares to the public ) and saw there "Casino de Isthmus City" chips. I later purchased a set for home poker nights, which led to the game room when I bought a house last year, which led to the desire to get various chips in frames to decorate the walls, which ultimately led me here. Gee, talk about your circle of life...
Well, lest I ramble too much, I'll post this message so someone else doesnt beat me to the answer.
Thanks for asking!
Brent
