Howdy,
It has been some time since I have posted here and I feel odd for posting this here as it has been so long adding to that it isn't poker chip related. I do know that many of you play poker and I'm hoping for some direction.
A friend has announced he is going to hold a poker tournament at his house. Strictly friends only; invite only event. I've been asked to be the director as I have the most experience from live play and tournaments and I've accepted. The event is scheduled for early next year; January 10th is the tentative date, at the moment.
I am not so naive as to think this will be easy or something I can show up to on Saturday night, say "Shuffle up." and drink root beer all night while I watch television or do something else mindless. When everyone arrives they will be friends and I want them to go home that way, all 19 of them (two tables of 8, 2 dealers and me).
Is there a book or some other source that might help me, another sight or BB that posting to may produce some positive results or any general comments about how insane I am for even getting involved?
I dream about owning my own poker room and now that a small event like this has been set up I'm more than a little nervous as I'm a stickler for deetale.
I would rather over prepare, if that's possible, and have it go smooth for everyone's sake including mine as I believe this will be an opportunity for me to learn even more about my poker playing ability.
Thanks all.
PS. I will be posting a slightly altered version of this on Google's alt.gambling.poker, but value the opinion of visitors to this BB.
