I picked up a bar token from the York Tavern in Newport, Ky. It existed by that name in the late 1930s and early 40s. The place was run by Artie Dennert. By 1943, as shown by this newspaper clipping, his place had become the 633 Club. An ad in the 1947 phone book mentions the "New" Flamingo Club at the 633 York St. address. I'm not sure if the Flamingo and 633 were the same club or if the 633 Club was just a smaller part of, or a separate bar attached to the Flamingo.
