I have relatively little experience SELLING chips on eBay, although I've bought a lot. However, when I'm thinking of thinning out my collection, I look at what sells consistently on eBay and see that the Hard Rock chips almost always sell as long as the beginning bid is reasonable. This is in contrast with some of the other chips in my collection that would likely go the full auction term with no bids.
So, if I were in a situation where I needed to pare back my obsession a little or raise some cash, I would seriously consider letting my Hard Rocks go. I think commemoratives in general are losing their appeal to a lot of collectors, who see a growing frequency of releases that make it very expensive to keep up. But, of all the commemoratives out there, I think the chances of quickly selling any given Hard Rock versus a commemorative from another casino is much greater.
