I have a quick question. Do casinos ever stop using a certain chip and then when they discontinue them, they sell them to any companies at cheap prices?

My brother has about 100 $5 chips from all over country. Are they worth at least face value? What happens to a casino if it closes? Do they sell there chips at a fraction a face value? Are there companies that sell chips through the mail, like a monthly club, where every month, or week, they will send a customer a different chip? What would a dealer pay for chips?

Any good websites to look at? All help would be greatly appreciated.
