My antiquated flatbed scanner finally bit the dust. So here's my question.

Technology has changed drastically since I purchased my first scanner, therefore what would you recommend in the way of chip scanning devices these days. Scanner or Digital Camera?

When it was working, I did very little scanning of chips. So I'm not opposed to purchasing a low-buck unit that produces fair to moderate scans. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something that'll produce somewhat of a clear picture.

Must be compatible with Windows XP Pro
