This was my first time attending and participating in a chip release, so I have absolutely nothing to base my opinions on. So when I say it went smoothly, I guess I really mean that for an inexperienced person arriving at 7:10 am, standing in line and following instructions, I had nothing painful happen to me.
For me, it was nice being part of the release. I've wanted to be at the HR for a release for years, and this was the first time I had the chance. I enjoyed seeing and talking with my fellow chippers. Chuck, I know the you and the other NIS people would far prefer to be in and out of there, and not have to deal with any of the other crap, but I'm an out of towner and this was as much a social event for me.
What I found really strange was that the HR would only let us get 5 chips. I have no idea what they were thinking.
Another thing I didnt understand was with the line so long, why did was have to wait until 9:00 to get the numbers. Why not come along and give the numbers out earlier.
And I agree with you entirely about the release numbers. That's been a thorn in my side for a long long time. They could have easliy sold out of 5,000 chips.
