Hey Guys...Settle Down...
Who am I to say, hey, I am chopped liver when I get into an argument...OK...Barry the trays you mentioned are part of a collection, but essentially junk. Why would anyone reproduce that stuff??? There are tons of it around...not quite as many as the MGM Lion, but close...
I watch this very closely and I am sure you are aware of the phony FS Cal-Neva's being sold. OK, I am 99.99% sure they are bogus. I have a good case. This gentleman has allegedly reduced a good high dollar tray down to nothing with this junk he is selling....An experienced collector knows better...You guys do chips, I do trays, I do have some idea about what I am speaking of.
The original FS Cal Nevas were three lobe trays. When turned upside down and looked at there was an extra layer of white paint that the originals didn't have. Next problem, I can't find a glass maker that had that style of blank with four lobes in 1960-1963. The little diamond in the middle is kind of round...Under magnification you get the silkscreen effect...Old ashtrays weren't silk screened...
Don't worry about it...You can sleep at night...I watch this stuff....Just posted one by way of a matchbook that I am a bit concerned about...
Be brave...
