Well, that would certainly not simulate a live auction. OK, I stand here like a statue and enter one bid...For what reason...Auctions are blood and guts...You get to bid over and over. I live out in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming...you should see the auctions here...If you want it, bid for it, no mollycoddling and being polite. This is serious business.Auctioneers out here take "Order Bids" and essentially they are the same as snipe bids.
Ebay and online auctions are polite and tame compared to this environment. I have watched all day listening to all the different opinions on online auctions. Everybody has their own opinion as they should.
What it all boils down to is "THE HIGH BIDDER WINS." In my humble opinion it makes no difference how one bids...snipes, proxy bids, or whatever. When the clock runs out, the high bidder gets the product.
For those of you that don't like that concept...Ebay offers fixed price auctions and buy it now. You also have the option of putting a reserve on your item. All I am saying is learn how the process works and how Ebay works. It is the best we have at the moment. They are not perfect, but way better than the others.
Just one man's opinion.
