My three adult children today, all with kids of their own, still look at me like I'm nuts for collecting these round colorful disks ... much like those aquaintances, co-workers, coin collectors and family members strangely looked at me over 25 years ago. After all, who in their right mind would not cash in their chips BEFORE they left a casino?
No one can force anyone else to derive the pleasure and satisfaction that we do from enjoying this unique hobby. It's a great hobby, one that has to be discovered for the most part all on it's own merits. Non-casino goers for the (and there are lots of them) will never understand it.
I do understand the need for replenishing the gray haired members with younger recruits... and I think the club has been doing that fairly succussfully as I look at the convention photos published each year.
The older members are slowly fading away, and the younger ones are taking their place. Just look at this last election if one needs any further proof. That's a healthy development which hopefully will continue for years to come.
