Mark, in your post you say, "So say, I have $62.77 bid on an item and the bid increment at this level is $1.00 and the current bid is $22.50. All one has to do is keep bidding until you have been outbid at $62.50 and the current bid is $62.77. At that point you know my proxy bid is $62.77 because of the .27 difference rather than an even dollar amount.'
Let's call the guy who bid $62.77 "Mr.62.77." Let's say Mr62.77 is shown as high with a $58.50 bid showing as high. So you bid $59.50, but due to the proxy bidding system, Mr62.77 is then shown as high with a $60.50 bid. So you have to bid $61.50, but due to the proxy bidding system, Mr62.77 is then shown as high with a $62.50 high bid. So you have to bid $63.50, AND I GUESS YOU ARE THEN SHOWN AS HIGH WITH A HIGH BID OF $63.50 SHOWING. My questions are (a) is the above analysis correct?, and (b) how did any of this help you?
Thanks,
Robert
