Good point. Lets look at this, this way. With a .25 increment as someone pointed for low amounts then is it .50 over $10(?)
HIM 4.99
You 5.24 (total $15)
Him 5.49 (total $15.01)
You 5.74
Him 5.99 and so on.
He keeps out bidding you with a higher bid that stood earlier so that when your last bid is registered he still had money left on his bid and you didn't.
