Not being argumentitive but just for information, That is part of what I was talking about in my last post about bidders who don't understanding proxy bidding.
With proxy bidding, say an auction is sitting at $8.25 with a $.50 bid increment. You come in and bid $10. The only price that is visible to others is your standing bid for $8.75. Your full $10 max bid is not seen. If someone comes in and bids say $9 they will up your bid to $9.50 but will not know how high you actually bid. That price is not ever known unless someone outbids it. Thus the people who think there is some value in nipping away at a bid to find it's high end. Thus you don't have to wait till the wee hours of the morning to place a bid. Like I said, you might still want to place a semi serious bid to make sure you have the bid in. Then, holding a little back, be there when the auction ends to be able to rebid in the final moments of the auction to defend your bids. Or, I guess, use your snipe program for that.
