Michael,
It will take time for sellers to learn that they won't be able to overcharge on shipping if no one bids on their auctions. That is if we all stick together.
Occassionally I will run into an eBay auction that wants to charge what I believe is an unreasonable amount for shipping. I look for the indication in the auction listing that says "Buyer pays for all shipping costs". If that is the case, and I am paying for shipping, then I take it that I should be able to decide what shipping options I want. I will ask the seller if regular USPS 1st class is OK instead of priority shipping. Many eBay sellers like priority shipping because they get a free box from the USPS to ship the item. I usually offer to send along a self-addressed and self-stamped bubble envelope, in lieu of the shipping charge, along with my payment. This makes it easy for the seller and more reasonable for me. It usually works, but not always. But again, you can negotiate terms and conditions before you bid, not after the auction is over.
