This is someone who is a regular poster here on the chipboard. We, as a group of chippers who try to be fair with each other, should not be defending someone who will guiltlessly charge such an outragious amount for shipping all in one package.
We are talking about one of our own here. The final price of the auction is COMPLETELY irrelavent! As a regular here and ebay...The seller CLEARLY know the standards we are all expecting. Can the seller do this legally? of course he can. Should the seller morally do this? NO!
Here is what i suggest:
1) The seller returns part (if not most) of the outragious shipping charge to the buyer.
2) The seller needs to realize that we in the chipping community frown upon this and if he wants to continue in tbhis practice should clearly state in the description that he will not combine shiping for multiple auction wins. THSI action will not benefit the seller, because his auctions will be selling for less and possibly not selling at all. As my mom used to tell me: Don't be penny wise and dollar foolish"
3) the buyer should not post the sellers name on the chipboard if the seller returns some of the shipping. However..if he doesnt, and continues to be a jerk about it, the person needs to be exposed! The buyer needs to watch out for us the rest of his buddies so we dont run into this seller.
4)All of the others that are practicing this sort of underhanded money grubbing and dishonorable activity should stop it at once! If you're planning on behaving in such a greedy fashion, then at least have the courtesy to make it clear in your auctions that you wont combine shipping.
To be honest, for some reason it still saddens me to see this happen. Perhaps i see this chipboard as a group of buddies sharing a common interest and looking out for each other. I get countless hours of enjoyment here, and when i see one of us gouging another like this , well.. it just pisses me off!
