I don't get it, but then again I do. $40.00 to ship the scooter was probably realistic.
Hypothetically, $50.00 to ship a chip you got a great bargain on would still be ludicrous. Granted, you got a great bargain on the buying part but you got overhauled on shipping. I see your point, but it is still ridiculous to pay thru the nose for shipping.
But all are correct by saying, "ASK." If you don't ask about combining shipping on multiple wins and you get charged separately for each one it is your own fault. The seller has every right to impose his shipping rate as stated in his ad. His not combining is of course the true mark of a gouging scumbag.
Another great story of me being an idiot and getting overhauled was this. I bought 12 ashtrays from a guy in New England. He plainly stated in his ad that he did not combine shipping. He said each listing was packed as it was listed. I wrote and asked if he could tape 3 or 4 Priority #4 boxes together, thusly reducing shipping. He said yes he could do that.
I won the 12 auctions. When he sent shipping I was given a charge for 4 #4 Priority boxes taped together for a greatly reduced charge than if they had been mailed separately. The other 8 he charged me $3.85 apiece for. He told me that I only asked for one bunch of 3 or 4 to be taped together, not the remaining 8. I asked if he could tape the others together in groups of 4. Answer was, he had done enough and that I needed to read shipping costs more closely.
Essentially yes, but, isn't this about a little customer satisfaction. He lost a customer. Later on, when he listed more stuff he would send me a list of items he had listed. I just said, "Sorry, I can't afford your shipping." Then he told me that the previous deal was a misunderstanding on his part.
Oh, well, I have had all the "misunderstanding" I could take. Probably a loss for both seller and buyer.
