Since I had just posted an ashtray, a postcard, and a matchbook, I assume I was the impetus for your query. I am not a chip collector, but it is inevitable that I will become one. I have asked many questions and so many folks have been so kind to take the time to answer my elementary questions. That is what is so special about the CCGTCC, Inc. membership.
I post this other junk that I collect just as a reference to the history of the places. Chips will always be the KING of Casino Collectibles. Nevada has such a rich and colorful history. If my Emails are indicative of the situation, there are many that have never given the history aspect a thought. That seems to be changing and I think it is wonderful. I am no Nevada Historian by any stretch of the imagination. I answer what I can and if I can't answer, I call on the people I have met on this board to help.
We deal in the Casino Ashtrays. They are our passion. We are currently in the process of doing a massive site showcasing them. We are also attempting to have a picture of each place. In many cases it has been tougher than the ashtray to find. Not surprisingly, the Chip Community has been the providers of some of the tougher photos we needed. Our site is "Everybody's Site." It would not have been possible without everyones contributions. When the trays are up we plan on starting on the histories of the places. We envision it being a reference site for whatever one collects. We also plan on doing personal remembrances, which I think will be something very special.
Jim, I am sorry if I offend with my posts. Early on I was severely criticized for posting my "drivel", as it was referred to. At that point I said, "Ok, I am out of here." The support that I got was overwhelming to say the least.
I understand your sentiments. Maybe it is time for a different message board for other Casino collectibles.
So here is my question, "Is this something that needs to be done?" Do we need to get these other collecting fields off the Chipboard? It is a VALID question. My personal opinion is, "No"
I feel that all the other collectibles enhance the hobby, but that is just "one man's opinion", as I always say.
Happy Collecting and Let's Keep Having Fun!!!
