Comcast to speed up online access
SOUTHFIELD -- Comcast said Thursday it plans to double the speed of its cable-modem Internet access service for its Southeast Michigan customers at no additional cost. The downstream speed -- the rate a server connects to an end user -- for its broadband service will increase to 3 megabits per second, or Mbps, from 1.5 Mbps. It's expected the upgrade will make Comcast's Internet services about 50 times faster than traditional dial-up access.
