Huey, there’s the problem to your scenario

How many lots of 500 chips can you sell for $400+? You have to sell at least 4 lots at $400 just to break even ($1250 for the cost of chips @ .25 each, Postage to receive the chips, and Ebays fees).

You might get lucky and sell more than 4 sets if enough people want a home poker set for $400. My guess is that you will end up posting the 500 chip lots over and over again on Ebay costing you even more money.

View the history of the Ebay sellers who sell the lots of 500 chips and see the range of what the chips sold for (and the number of times their auctions are listed).

Here’s another problem to your equation, most of the casino’s that dump their chips to the secondary market sell off their entire inventory to one or two dealers. You might be talking 50,000+ chips @ .25 each ($10,000+). Now it will take you 35+ $400 auctions to break even.

You might have better luck going to Vegas, buying $1250 in dollar chips, making lots of 50 (one chip from 50 locations) and selling the lots for $75 each). If you don't sell the chips, you can always take them back to the casinos.

If you buy 5000 chips from a closed casino for $1250, you might be stuck with 5000 chips!
