You buy 3200 chips for 25c each (not bad?) which is $800. (plus shipping) You sell them for $2 each, when you sell one, if you sell one. That means when you sell around 400, individual chips, you are starting to break even. Don't forget the padded envelopes, stamps, and time...
Since the chips were bought by the buckets and barrels full, most people aren't interested, so you might just be owning these chips for a lifetime.
Still when I look at my own private overstock of chips, it's sure a nice hoard. If a friend wants to have a poker game at home, they can borrow 500 for a night.
Oh by the way, watch eBay and you might see a big batch of "cheap chips" for sale now and then.
