... with the same scanner. I cover the chip and the whole glass scanning surface with a piece of green felt before I close the scanner lid. (Could use white paper instead I suppose.) This has something to do with the bright light "bouncing" all over the place, and off the smooth plastic chip?, during the scanning process. The cover "contains" the light.
