Re: Answer to AC chip collectors

I'll take a stab at answering your questions Paul; with some reservations.

Q. I see where the Trump Marina is issuing many new $10.00 chips. Does anyone know if they sell as many, more than or less than the $5.00 chips?

A. Todd Moyer, Trump Marina VP, has previously indicated that all new issues from Trump Marina will be $10 ... not $5. I would guess that they sell less $10 chips than they do $5's, but I have no casino statistics to back up my opinon. Having said that, I would think it is more profitable for Trump Marina to do $10 chips than it is with $5 chips ... otherwise they would not have made the switch.

Q. Would any of the new chips services care to reveal if they sell as many $10.00 chips to their customers as they do or did to ones who save $5.00 chips.

A. As the denominations increase, the number of subscribers I have decreases propotionately. There are twice as many of my subscribers signed up for $5 LE's as there are $10's. But the bottom line is not the business I do, but the business the casino does which determines if a new chip will be a nickel or a dime. Some of my customers will go out of their way to pick up their own $25 and $100 chips, but leave it up to me to provide them with the $5 LE's as a matter of economics and travelling considerations. (It cost $4 just to park at Trump Marina ... not to mention gas, tolls, lunch, temptation to gamble, etc.)

Q. Does anyone think that the end of the $5.00 chip releases from AC is soon to arrive?

A. Generally speaking, the number of chip issues are down in A.C. Today's release at Trump Plaza was the only LE chip issued during the month of September and earlier in the year there were similar months where no LE chips were issued. We're happy that the Trump properties seem to be the only properties in town that are interested in a chip program at all to maintain our collecting interest.

As you probably are aware, the silver strikes are all gone in A.C. and have been for years. Casinos are now adopting a TITO (Ticket In Ticket Out)policy where slot machines no longer use tokens.

Trump management is very collector friendly.... unlike another property on the south end of the Boardwalk. This morning, the very pleasant Trump Plaza Shift Manger on duty (John) asked the dozen or so early birds who were waiting in line for the release of the Humphrey Bogart chip if any of us wanted coffee, juice or tea while we waited for the 11 a.m. release! (TRUE STORY!)

Q. With inflation constantly increasing, do you think that the new standard for new issues from AC will be the $10.00 variety with the $5.00 denominations taking a back seat along with the $1.00 chips?

A. I think the few casinos that tried the $10 and $25 chip LE's were disappointed with how many were sold ... and went back to the $5 chip.

Lastly, a question for you Paul.... Why do you think collecting A.C. roulettes has become so popular?
A. Because most all the other A.C. casinos do not issue LE's ... and it presents a genuine challenge to complete a set.
