I too am a former postal worker and I agree FOR THE MOST PART, postal workers are an honest group... (not to mention the fact, they have cameras and inspectors in cat walks etc....)
HOWEVER, a few years ago I also began having signs of "mail tampering". This began IMMEDIATELY after I signed for a registered package... and I explained to my curious mail carrier, what was in all my little packages. I told him because I trusted him - because although we had never worked together, we were hired and trained together in 1984 at the GMF (General Mail Facility) in Phoenix AZ -
Shortly after this, I began receiving envelopes cleanly slit open, some of these still had contents, but some were empty. None of them had been handled by USPS "damaged mail" procedures.
I filed several complaints with the USPS - and one day, my carrier was replaced by a new carrier. I didn't have problem with my mail until about a year ago... when 7 out of 20 "out-going" packages just disappeared (and one incoming - incidentally - also from Archie. This makes me wonder if Archie has a thief at his Post Office.?????)
I agree - most postal workers are honest... but to say they ALL are isn't true. We had a guy at our GMF that was detouring packing to his home. HE was caught and prosecuted. They also had a Phx clerk who stole a million $$ in cash and fled. They thought he was kidnapped... but no... he just stole the money and ran.
Archie and Carl should both write letters to their local Postmasters. If there is a thief, they will flush him or her out and prosecute them to the fullest
