Sounds interesting. I would be interested to know about the delivery system. One of the problems that I have seen with the older machines is the fact that the coins just clunk out into the metal tray. I have received several over the years where the case cracks or the coins come out of the capsules etc. The best solution to that was at McCarran, I think it was, where they put a piece of foam in the bottom of the tray to soften the hit of the token when it was released.
I can see how, if there is a problem with low capacity of the machines, proneness to jamming and the damage factor to the Silver Strikes that some casinos could quickly come to a conclusion that they require more maintenence and attention than they are worth.
IGT coming out with solutions to those problems is certainly encouraging. While I personally prefer tokens and the like, the idea of the capability of delivering other prizes through standard plastic capsules might certainly be an attractive option to the casinos. Think of this... A casino could have someone like Chipco manufacture some chips with prizes on them. Say Airfare Reimbursement or Free Room Nights. Maybe a Cruise, Bicycles, jewelry or whatever. Put those in place of tokens in the machines. If you get one of those you redeam it at the cage for the prize, voucher, certificate or whatever to get the prize. I just hope it isn't like the gumball type machines that the kids go crazy with at the Bowling Alley. Little plastic balls filled with everything from a cheap sticker to a beanie type animal etc. Of course I assume the prizes would be far more adult and significant but the type of capsule would just seem a little cheezy.
