Re: Coinless Slots
In Response To: Re: Coinless Slots ()

As I touched on in one of my previous posts here, I did think the tickets were cool originally and took a few of the 10 cent or 15 cent tickets home as souvenirs. That is when I noticed that the barcode and printing has all but dissappeared in a little over a year. Thus I have given up on them. Maybe take them and scan them when I get home or something. Put them that way into my scrap books.

I have a curiosity here. Don't know if anyone has the experience to know. I can see how the paper tickets can be cost effective and practical for the larger payouts. I think I have also seen where they can add to some interest by printing out special coupons for freebies and discounts when a player cashes out. Maybe this could be a way for the slot clubs to eventually pay out comps automatically. The question though is with the smaller pay outs, is it worth the paper and printer etc. to be paying out tickets for a nickle or for 15 cents? I wonder how much paper they go through printing such small denominations of tickets.

As for the dirty hands, I find the handi-wipes at the cages to be perfectly adequate for this. Dirty hands from handling coins doesn't bother me much. Carrying coin cups isn't a big problem either. It does kind of add to the gravety of the situation when you have 2 of the big slot cups full of halves and walk up to a cage and get paid $860 for them. A little more dramatic than a little piece of paper.

I would guess that most casinos are probably more concerned about the slot cups and handi-wipes that walk with the customers than the gamblers dirty hands. Eliminating these little, frequently pilfered, souvenirs is probably more attractive to them. I know last summer I brought home about 50 of the handi-wipes and about 5 slot cups.

Again, that is my biggist source of sadness. NO MORE SLOT CUPS... sad

I just got a bunch of dollar tokens for my birthday. My thoughtful girlfriend found a little box full of them somewhere and gave them to me. It was kind of fun. A few looked to never even have been played and were in fantastic condition. A Monte Carlo from 96 and a Boardwalk with a ferriswheel on one side. Most were average ware and still nice. A few were so old and worn that I almost couldn't tell what they were.

I have also been picking up quite a few when I go to boats here in Illinois. One nice thing here is that for all denominations they use tokens here and in Indiana. I have 5cent 10cent Quarter, Dollar and a $5. Picked some up from Hollywood, Trump and Majestic Star. I like the collecting of them and hope that they don't all dissappear too soon. Hopefully coinless slots don't catch on around here. Of course, in LV they don't use tokens at all except dollar and up. Now, I wonder if those are at risk?

OH, and Silver Strikes..... Long live the Silver Strike.
