With coins you have to cash out, wait for all the coins to come out, and the jamming and the refills, etc. Then you have to carry the coins to the next machine and manually feed the coins back into the next machine one at a time. And it always happens that some of the coins pass right through the machine into the hopper without registering and have to be re-feed into the machine. With paper, you just cash out on one machine and feed the receipt into the next machine. Paper is much more convenient to players.
