I switched to a Premier account to sell an item for a friend (expensive) but didn't realize that every auction would be paying a percentage for this privledge.

I switched back to Personal last week.

You can change back to a personal account ONCE, if you accept a CC again, you are locked in.

You are not required to accept CC payments and you can make it clear that you don't, in your auctions.

I have found Paypal very favorable and I like getting a payment the next day, so I can ship without waiting days for a check, then cashing and waiting three days to make sure it's good. Then shipping...

The money is in my account for purchases, no hassle payments for what I buy. I have also transfered money to my bank account, with no problems.

The only catch I can see, is never accept CC payments, or only do it once if it's a large item, and know that you can only revert one time.

No transaction fees if you never take CC payments.
