IMHO
I do agree that there are corporate cultural issues that will come to play. However I disagree with the statement that Harrah's apologises for being in the gaming business.
Binion's operations are more entrepreneurial than Harrah's, that may be due to the size of the operations. Harrah's is more bueracratic and more conservative. However Harrah's has a tight business model and a vision of where they are headed in the long run.
A lot of people believe that Harrah's runs properties down because of what happened at the Rio. However I believe the Rio would have had to change who they catered to anyway, they were going to get killed whale hunting. Harrah's has done very well in the long run with the Players, Showboat and Harveys takeovers.
Is it apologetic or taking the lead when dealing with gambling related social problems that other casino companies had denied existed. Problem Gambling, Minors in Casinos, Unattended childern. I believe that it is taking a lead on such gambling related issues.
