More fake chips, that look like real chips.
Years ago someone called me on the phone and asked if I buy casino chips. I don't know where he got my name or number, because it was a local call.
The guy said he had a $500 chip and wondered if I would buy it.
I asked what it said on it and he said Casino De Ithmus City. I told him, that it was a store chip which may have cost someone 65c in Las Vegas and at best, he might get $1-3 for it, from a collector. (since then CDIC chips are so common, I'd say $2 Max.)
I don't know if the guy was trying to con me or was duped himself. He said thanks and hung up.
Remember the tales of people standing at the airport (Reno was one) with a handful of chips and telling someone their plane was leaving, and they would like to sell the chips for $25 each for $100 chips.
It's not going to stop, but at least here, collectors can find out, before they get taken.
