I posted this before, but what the heck, I liked it. In May 2003 I sold this guy (who found me via an internet search) some common jockey-on-horse chips. I didn't do anything difficult, but this was his nice, extravagant reply:
"Robert,
When I was a boy I use to check the mail in anticipation of an item I sent away for with "box tops". The last few weeks you have brought back those memories. That great feeling one only gets from the expectation of receiving the prize that you have worked for. At that time it was the cutting out and saving of the "box tops" counting them two or three times a day to make sure one had the correct amount before sealing the envelope that would guarantee the return of the most sought after "Dick Tracy Watch" or the "Official Boy Scout Compass". I was never disappointed. Kellogs were true to there word. And so are you Robert Eisenstadt. The poker chips and box are just like my grandfathers as you thought they might be. Memories flow from them like pure spring water moving lazily over the pebbles in a brook. Thanks for saving those common chips and old case. Thanks for packing those memories as if they were made of fine crystal. And keep on looking for those rare pebbles in the brook but every now and then pick up some more of the common pebbles, they too hold great value.
Yours,
Kevin R."
