In the parlance of the security industry that is responsible for destruction of certain materials to be removed from circulation, this is the end result of chips that have passed through a knife-mill.
I will be scanning more of the results, but suffice it to say, it is not a pretty picture! This method is the current way in which chips and dice are destroyed. The new twist here is that someone has decided to market the end result.
Very similar to buying shredded currency, I found these items in a small plastic, slot machine shaped, jar For Sale at the gift shop in the Orleans Hotel and Casino!
The label boasts of previously used casino chips thay may have had a value of $50 to $100,000!
I will post a picture of the plastic jar later, but it weights about what a rack of chips weight 100 chips) and sells for $12.50 plus tax.
Of the pieces pictured, I can make out the Luxor $8 YOT Rat, no longer valued at $19 , a Union Plaza Race and Sports chip with a denomination that might be 500 or 5000 or ?, but what is really interesting is that it is not listed in the TCR!
There is also a lot of debris from the Holiday Casino and it closed in '92. The Rio is represented, as well as Excalibur, New York New York, Bally's and The Orleans.
What a shame!
