Thanks Pam, thats what I get for trying to use memory (what memory?) instead of notes.
When researching the Sal Sagev article, I was really only interested in gambling at the SS and not the history of the building. I just looked at the article for the 1st time in several years. It looks like the pictures I took of the Albert Pick and the SS roulette chips, in the ladies living room did not survive the Chequers change over of owners. Heres one. The Albert Pick and its SS chips have been serving as a coffee table since the 1950's.
Anyone interested can go to http://www.chequers.com/ and click on Chequers Magazine then my mame to read the article. It is the March 99 article.
I looked into the SS chips because Rene had just showed up in the hobby. He had his hooks into the new found chips and was trying to broker a deal at humungous prices, without knowing or having proof of the attributation. After my article Rene lost the deal and the chips came into the hobby at what I considered a fair price. I found the Albert Pick and rushed the article in a matter of days for this reason. I had a little edge on Rene, the person that had them was a long time friend. I had seen them and had a good idea of what they were before he did. After the article the owner brokered his own deals thru an employee of his.
