The property was purchased for $1750 at the land auction in 1905.
In 1906 it opened as the Hotel Nevada, and (as I recall from one of Andy's holiday contests) it was the first building in Southern Nevada to be constructed of concrete. Room and board was $1 per day.
In 1907 the first telephone in Las Vegas was installed at the Hotel Nevada. Phone number was "1".
In 1931 the hotel was expanded and renamed the Sal Sagev. (I think that's when the third floor was added...not positive about that, though).
In 1955 the Golden Gate Casino opened on the ground floor.
But I don't know if it's the oldest hotel in Nevada! (It IS the oldest hotel in Las Vegas! )
