Joe.....many match cover collectors take the matches out so that they can fit in plastic pages..after awhile you will find yourself with hundreds of matches and you will probably want to organize them...that's how I collect them but if I find an OLD matchbook, I sometimes leave the matches in.....both ways are ok....welcome to another great aspect to the hobby...Jim
