Last I heard cousin Guido and Luigi were over at the local sporting goods store, checking out lightweight softball bats. Maybe they had something in mind.
Honestly, some guys from the club used to run auctions for these chips. It doesn't mean a bidder will see them. Look at that pair of chips that just went for $66 and the same chips from the same seller were offered with a buy it now of $15? HUH?
I agree about the auction with a full description but wonder about a different spin. Since it costs the same to run an auction for $1 as it does $9.99 why not put them up for $9.99 and have a nice description which explains that it's a fake, fantasy or whatever. The good part is people will see the auctuion, and the seller will hopefully not have to sell the chip and ship it!
Something like,
I'm offering this Fantasy chip for sale. You can buy it from a gift shop or gaming supply store for under a buck. It's not from a real casino and don't let someone try to tell you it's old or rare. These are common immitation chips so don't be fooled into believing that it's worth anything.
Now with the $9.99 price tag, I can sell this chip three or four times a month for around $1.20 in listing fees, and with any luck, never have a buyer?
I'm not sure how eBay looks upon informational links in ads. I could also provide a link to the club pages which describe Fantasy chips. Something like, you can read more about this chip and others like it at (link here). I know people link to Mfgs. sites and pictures or user guides?
Bonus to this program. I already have a couple hundred more Fantasy chips than I need, if I sell one, it would be a nice gesture to send the person more than one and maybe some real chips, so they don't get ripped off.
