After reading yesterday's thread (started by Chuck Mades) about the slabbed chip on eBay, I went to ICG's website and sent them an email inquiry, asking whether they are grading & slabbing casino chips.

Today, I received the following email response:

>> Thank you for your e-mail. We did--for about
>> 18 months--grade casino chips, however, it was
>> not profitable enough for us to continue.

>> James Taylor
>> President

I also know that PCGS, the leading slabber, has decided not to pursue the grading of casino chips.

The combined voices of chip COLLECTORS have kept this plague out of our hobby. Congratulations to all who spoke out. On the other hand, as Thomas Jefferson once said, "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance", and if we want our hobby to stay free of slabbing, we MUST remain vigilant.
