I agree that the attribution is suspect. For a more historical analysis, I'd like to see when the American Broadcasting Corp began using this particular logo. I belive they were using that logo in 1970, and if they were in fact using it at that time, then I would say that this fact would weigh very heavily against these being "bowling" chips. The reason is simple: the American Bowling COngress would undoubtedly be accutely aware of the trademarks and logos of a comany that shares its initials, and it is highly unlikely that it would violate those trademarks.

I would suggest that a bit more research is in order before simply accepting what Doung, Bruce, and Phil "were always told." (Also, I don't really understand the statement that they "were always told" these were bowling chips -- which seems to contradict the statement that "at one time" they thought they were American Broadcasting Corp. chips.)
