According to Kling's Reno book, gambling came to the Sands Motel in 1965 and applied for a new license in '69 as Sands Motor Inn. Modified name to Sands Regency in '83 and now publicly traded under that name. No mention of any other Sands entity. Can attest to the World's Soggiest Fish 'N Chips being served at the Sands' Mel's Cafe.
